的　（てき）

的　（てき）turns nouns into なーadjectives (or にーadverbs)。Known as "adjectivalisation."

It's analogous to the English suffixes: -ly, -able, -al, -ous, -ary, -ful, -ic, -ish, -less, -like, -y, -wise. As in: friendly, knowledgeable, accidental, poisonous, honorary, wonderful, heroic, foolish, childlike, funny, senseless, moneywise.

Just like in English it only works with certain nouns, so better to remember the words rather than the rule. 

Here are a list of words to to memorize:

消極的 Passive　 しょうきょくてき　 あまり消極的だと友達ができないよ If you are too passive, you won't be able to make any friends.
攻撃的 Aggressive character, attacking (negative connotation).　 こうげきてき　
感情的 Emotional　 かんじょうてき　 ここは感情的にならないで冷静に話し合おう
（れいせい）		 Let’s not get too emotional and talk about it calmly.
現実的 Realistic　 げんじつてき　 ここは現実的に考えてみましょう Let’s be realistic here.
非現実的 Unrealistic　 ひげんじつてき　
行動的 Active　 こうどうてき　 行動的な人ほど、運が切り開ける

具体的 Concrete, practical　 ぐたいてき　 もっと具体的なアイディアを出して下さい Please give me more specific ideas.
抽象的 Abstract　 ちゅうしょうてき　 彼の言うことはいつも抽象的だ What he says is always abstract
一般的 General　 いっぱんてき　 この言葉はあまり一般的ではない

耳の そう /Hearsay, I heard that. plain form そうです。I heard that. TIP: mnemonic : it's easy to repeat information you've heard and it uses the easiest grammar (plain form). 目の そう /It looks like.
