いれます(t)       電源を入れた(38)                        I turned on the power (only for power switch)

 

きえます(i.t)     電気がきえています(29)           The light is off

けします(t)       電気を消しました(14)               I turned off the electricity

きります(t)       電気を切った(38)　                   I turned off the light

ひらきます(i.t) ドアが開きます                           The door is opening (often said on train/in lift)

あけます(t)       ドアをあけます                           I open the door

 

しまります(i.t) ドアが閉まってます　              The door is open

しめます(t)       ドアを閉めます                           I close the door

とじます(t)       ドアを閉じます                           I close the door

耳の そう /Hearsay, I heard that. plain form そうです。I heard that. TIP: mnemonic : it's easy to repeat information you've heard and it uses the easiest grammar (plain form). 目の そう /It looks like. The meaning changes slightly between verbs and adjectives. １．Verbs V- ます そう です  "it looks like [something] will" : use when making a supposition about a future state based on direct observation of the present state.  今にも雨が降り そう です。 Can also be used with negatives : V ないform[ い ]そう 勉強し なそう   ( He/she doesn’t look like they would study).   Another way to say a negative supposition is using the  V- ます そうもない/ そうにない / そうにもない    form which conveys the meaning that it "is very unlikely to"; "shows no sign of"; "doesn't look like it will" .
